The Hunchback of Notre Dame - another brilliant production raises over £3,500

Pilton Panto and handing over the cheques

Back in late January 2010, the bells rang out in Pilton for 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame - THE PANTO'! The hugely talented cast from Pilton Panto Productions, under the direction of Hamish Patrick and with the support of big backstage and front of house teams, told the story of the love of Quasimodo (played by Lobby) for the gypsy girl, Esmeralda (played by Liz Hayton).

The village's annual January show has a big reputation for acting, colour, costumes and laughs, and this one more than exceeded expectations. Victor Hugo's grim and scary story of 19th Century Paris was presented in the best traditions of Pilton pantomime comedy - and since you've missed it this time I can tell you that it ended happily with lovers united and villains thwarted.

And the seven performances raised over £3.500 for three good causes: Pilton Festival, Pilton Church Hall and North Devon Hospice. The Festival has benefited to the tune of £1,100. Thanks for a great effort to all involved and those who provided support, especially for the free performance to pupils from Pathfield School, Pilton and Broomhayes School, Bideford on the Monday night. Brilliant!
